A WORD FROM THE CEO
CREDIT UNION NAMED IN BEST-IN-STATE RANKINGS
Forbes recently named American Airlines Federal Credit Union to its list of America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions for 2026, and I wanted to take a moment to share that news directly with you, because it says as much about where we’ve been putting our efforts as it does about any single ranking. We were named in the top 10 in four different states (making the top five in three of those) an honor for which we’re extremely proud.
Why this recognition matters
Forbes partnered with Statista, a well-regarded global research firm, and surveyed thousands of people about how they actually feel about their financial institution, not just on paper, but in practice. The survey looked at customer satisfaction, trust, the quality of financial advice, digital services, and how members are treated day to day.
The rankings then focused on credit unions operating in 14 states or fewer, the kind of institutions built to know their members rather than operate at a distance. What that means, in plain terms, is that the people we serve told Forbes we’re getting the fundamentals right. That’s not something we take lightly.
Ninety years of the same work
We were founded in 1936 to serve the people who kept American Airlines flying, and that purpose hasn’t changed. Today we serve more than 386,000 members and manage more than $9.3 billion in assets, but the size of the organization isn’t what I think about most.
What matters to me is whether we’re still making decisions the same way we always have, by asking whether something genuinely helps the people who bank with us. This recognition tells me that, more often than not, the answer is yes. It also tells me there’s more work to do, because that’s always the case.
I want to thank our members directly. Every ranking on that list reflects the trust you place in us, and the work our team puts in every day to earn it. We don’t see this as a finish line. It’s a marker along the way, and we intend to keep the pace moving onward and upward.
Best regards,
